Summer Showcase Series

Take in some great live music in the Surf Ballroom! The Summer Showcase Series is held annually on Thursday evenings in June and July. Each show is held in the Surf Ballroom & Museum’s Cypress Room to utilize the initial purpose of its construction–to enjoy local and regional entertainment in an intimate sit-down environment. Various genres of music, such as country, rock, blues/roots, acoustic, and R&B are featured, exposing different types of music to fit the tastes of the general public. An acoustic or electric guitar is raffled off each week to an audience member as a thank you from the Surf to all that support live music.

Each show will include one hired regional artist, and will additionally showcase local musician(s) to play a 30-minute set to open for the regional artist(s). Doors open at 7pm nightly.

Additionally, our Board of Directors and Advisory Committees are volunteer based. Though all positions are appointed, please let us know if you have an interest in being involved when an opportunity arises.

Food and drinks, including a full cash bar, will be available for sale at each show. These sales support the concert series and future events. Free will donations are also accepted!

Local musicians interested in the opportunity to open for a show during the Summer Showcase Series are encouraged to submit a recording or press kit to education@surfballroom.com. Submissions may also be mailed to Surf Ballroom, 460 North Shore Drive, Clear Lake, IA 50428. Individuals must be 18 years of age and may not use recorded background tracks.
